Busted!

Worried about sagging breasts or a cleavage that just doesn’t pop? You’re not alone. According to the Great British Boob Survey (yes, it’s an actual thing), a whopping 30% of women polled said that they hated their breasts. What’s more, one third admitted to constantly comparing themselves to other women. Sadly, only 10% of women said that they loved their boobs.

Sure, these stats come to us from across the pond, but are things any different here in Canada? Ask around and you’ll see: many of us aren’t satisfied with our natural endowments. We’re more likely to be deflated with envy than busting with joy. And this is unfortunate.

Because here at Miel we are women and we design bras for a living, breasts are on our minds a whole lot. Given that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, it’s all the more important to talk about such issues. Every year, approximately 25,000 women in Canada are diagnosed with breast cancer. Considering that this disease affects 1 in 9 Canadian women, we should be taking care of our bodies instead of worrying about perkiness or plumpness.

Why not take this opportunity to bust out some moves and celebrate our bosom buddies for all their worth! Take our advice: love the skin you’re in. Breasts come in all shapes and sizes! Case in point, have you ever heard your partner complain? (…) We didn’t think so.

And if you need to lift your spirits—and your chest!—, why not simply invest in a new bra? A different style or a pretty colour will do wonders for your figure and your morale. And don’t ever forget that while you’re discretely checking out your yoga teacher’s bosom, someone in the room is envying yours!
