My Cancer Journey

This year, a member of our team was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was because of her battle that we selected the Cedaars Breast Cancer Program to benefit from our initiative.
Read her inspirational story below.

Qing Yang, Head of Production, Montelle Intimates

I knew very little about breast cancer before I was diagnosed at the McGill University Health Center (MUHC) in June of this year. It was a shock and I fell into a depression. I was forced to get to know cancer in a very short period of time - in fact, I had all of my testing and received my full diagnosis and staging on the same day.

The Cedars program has fantastic resources, facilities and support - from the library for cancer patients and care givers to the social workers and psychologists who work with patients on the emotional side of cancer. There is a finance department that helps patients plan how to manage a long period off work, yoga, other activities that ease the transition through chemotherapy, and more. All of these resources and the positive attitude of my treatment team has made the healing process easier. Many of these resources result from the donations of kind and generous people all around the world.

I am still in treatment and have never felt alone. Family, friends, and colleagues are always there to listen and to help. Doctors and nurses have been doing their best to control, or kill, my cancer. Thanks to all of the support of the doctors, nurses, social workers and volunteers, I am feeling positive and am living a happy life.

I am very lucky to have all of this help and was touched to find out that Montelle would be sponsoring the Cedars Breast Cancer Program at MUHC this year in my honor. When I heard that we have over 40 stores across Canada and the United States participating, I was overcome with gratitude and hope. Cedars has a state of the art program and is an international leader in patient care, while MUHC is on the forefront of research. I am very hopeful that this initiative and others like it will mean future generations will be cancer-free.
