Best Care for Underwear
Nobody likes a saggy bottom. You don’t ever want to get caught wearing underwear gone bad. I have, and it’s not pretty. Let this be a tale of caution for all you ladies who don’t take proper care of your intimates.
It was a dark and stormy night when I unexpectedly hooked up with the guy I’d crushed on for months. As luck would have it, I was wearing comfy old briefs (read: super stretched out after many spins in the washer and dryer). Did I care? No, for I was deeply infatuated with this man. Did he notice? You bet. Did he comment? Oh, yes. My saggy apparel was apparently quite entertaining. How does one turn the other cheek after this?
Lesson learned.
To maintain its elasticity, colour and shape, make no mistake: lingerie requires special care.
What is the best way to care for your fine apparel?
Hand washing is a must. I hear you groan but trust me, it really does make a difference in the long run.
If machine wash is your only option, use a laundry bag and select a gentle cycle.
TIP If washing bright colours for the first time, add a bit of white vinegar to water to prevent colours from bleeding.
Now that we are basking in the warm rays of the sun, there are no excuses not to hang your laundry out to dry. Not only will it keep your bras, panties and camisoles smelling garden fresh and looking as bright as the blooms in your garden, it will extend the life of your underwear.
About that wisecracking guy? Long forgotten. I was lucky to marry a man who not only does his own laundry but is smart enough to know when to keep questionable comments to himself.

- Hand wash in cool water using a mild detergent. You only need a tiny amount of soap in a small basin of water. We love soak’s no-rinse wash, but any mild soap will do.

- Gently rub fabric to remove dirt. Let soak for a few minutes.
- Rinse garment until water runs clear. Gently squeeze out excess water and wrap in towel to absorb moisture.
- Dry flat on clean towel or hang to dry. Thanks to its special blend of microfiber and Spandex, miel® underwear dries in a flash.
